Worldwide

NGOs, Education, Research, Consultants, Industry, Government

General conditions

GFSE is an Association under the Austrian law. Besides feeding into the international energy discourse and disseminating information, the GFSE is ready to undertake a more practical role in facilitating energy related activities, by bringing together the representatives of donors, funding agents and investors on one side, the holders of technological know-how and operational experience on the other side, and potential project promoters from developing countries. Their interactions could produce new opportunities and/or facilitate the ways for the realization of existing opportunities in the energy field.GFSE as a networking agent: networks with other energy initiatives and organizations in the energy field. As information clearing site: provides and disseminates information. As a project facilitator: fosters partnerships and facilitates energy for sustainable development undertakings.

Example projects

The GFSE held two international Meetings (the first in December 2000 and the second in November 2001) dedicated to rural energy. The outcome of the second Meeting has been circulated as a document of the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg in 2002. The GFSE develops activities complementary to the holding of annual conferences, e.g.: smaller, in situ events devoted to the exploration of partnership and cooperation opportunities in particular countries/regions, events devoted to the promotion and "lessons learned" dissemination of particular energy technologies and/or energy carriers in the context of sustainable development advancement, aiming at particular undertakings, and facilitating advisory and negotiating meetings devoted to the inception, promotion and upholding of particular partnerships, joint ventures and cooperation undertakings.
