Background, mission and goals
MISSION The mission of SESSA is the creation and continued growth of an authoritative renewable energy forum, in Africa
OBJECTIVES - To promote and increase the use of renewable energy with informal education, demonstration and information dissemination to end-users and other decision makers of all levels;
- To establish the society as the main regional information centre in close co-operation with similar initiatives;
- To facilitate in the creation and maintenance of appropriate standards for products, systems or methods and training.
SESSA gives stature to its objectives by organising conferences, educational programmes and other projects. The Africa wide network of SESSA provides all role-players the opportunity to transfer knowledge and to obtain wide-ranging expertise.
SESSA helps in facilitating co-operation between the public and private sectors and lobbies all, to ensure an enabling environment in which the application of renewable energy technologies can take place. SESSA actively points out the environmental cost of non-renewable energies and calls for the accounting of all life cycle externalities.
For this purpose SESSA strives to have and maintain a close relationship with other associated and non-associated organisations with similar missions, such as the Photovoltaic Suppliers and Manufacturers Association (PVSM).
